. good afternoon, i'm michelle griego. frank is off this afternoon. >>> just one hour ago, several of the largest unions representing bart workers filed a lawsuit in alameda county court claiming the board of directors illegally broke an agreement on a new contract. mark kelly is live at the courthouse with the very latest developments. mark? >> reporter: well, michelle, this lawsuit makes three major claims. one, bart can't take back the total package agreement without good cause. and the unions say calling one part of that agreement a mistake is not good cause. claim 2 bart must execute the final agreement and claim 3, bart can't snip out one part of the agreement and essentially say no negotiating just take it or leave it. so here's a little background on this whole thing. the uproar has been over paid family leave. november 21, the bart board instructed management that paid family leave is costly. so they said first, get the family leave provision out of the contract. then and only then could they sign the contract saying it being in the final deal was a mistake. no surprise th

'm juliette goodrich. frank and michelle have the morning off. new this morning, firefighters are looking for the person who lived in this san jose mobile home. it was destroyed by a fire overnight. you can see the home completely gutted. the fire started at 2 a.m. in the casa alondre mobile home park on monterey road. firefighters didn't find anyone and neighbors don't think he was home at the time of the fire. >>> we have live team coverage of the freeze warning. cold temperatures gripping much of the bay area. kiet do live in fremont where temperatures are in the 30s. but we start with lawrence karnow. he means business with a turtleneck on in the weather center. >> throughout the day and the next five to seven days these temperatures are going to be chilly. out the doors the skies have cleared out. the winds have started to subside. we have seen some very cold temperatures. freeze warnings up for almost the entire bay area. overnight lows in the 20s and 30s. throughout the day temperatures not going to be a whole lot warmer. starting out at 29 degrees in santa rosa. get a little wind

'm michelle griego. time n 6:31. homeless in santa clara county ride a bus the only vta line that runs 24 hours a day. kiet do road the bus that many call hotel 22 and kiet, you rode it overnight. >> reporter: yeah. for a couple of bucks you can get a safe warm dry place to stay overnight. this is a story that we have been wanting to tell for quite some time. it turns out in the south bay, when it gets to freezing cold temperatures and you're homeless you don't have a lot of options. it's the first cold wet night of the season in san jose. and the shelters are full. but there is one place with vacancies. welcome to route 22, the vta bus line that goes 25 miles from eastridge mall to palo alto and back. it runs 24 hours a day and around midnight it takes on a different name, hotel 22. >> because it's safer to be on that bus than it is to be anywhere else. and so it's become by default a shelter. it's just a moving shelter. >> reporter: for james breslin a 55-year-old former tech worker who has fallen on hard times this warm dry place for the nice cost him $2.50. if he weren't here, he says

morning, it's wednesday, december 4. i'm anne makovec. >> i'm juliette goodrich. frank and michelle have the morning off. >> let's check in with lawrence because it is going to be a cold one out there. just the beginning of the cold snap, lawrence. >> yeah. really is. i think we have some colder weather ahead today. a chilly start widespread frost even at the coastline coastline. that cold air really coming in from the gulf of alaska and diving right into the bay area. so these temperatures taking a nosedive this morning. it is now 29 degrees in santa rosa, 29 in napa. 36 degrees in fremont. and 39 degrees in san jose. so even inside the bay we are seeing some cold temperatures and probably colder over the next hour and a half or so. so we have freeze warnings up for almost the entire bay area for this morning and again i think a colder night overnight tomorrow night and into tomorrow morning. that's when we'll see some very cold temperatures around the bay area. highs today are still going to only be on the chilly side. it will be sunny and bright but these numbers only in the 40s and t

morning, everyone. it's tuesday, december 3. i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. nearly 5:00 on your tuesday. >> and developing overnight, a raging fire that gutted a five- story building in boston is finally out. within minutes, flames were burning out of control. firefighters were ordered not to enter the building after the fire blew out several windows. according to officials, janitors were inside when the fire started. everyone was evacuated safely without any injuries. >>> looks chilly there. it is chilly here and i guess chains are required with snow in the sierra. >> it is. there are chain requirements for 50 and highways 89. none required for 880. there's highway 50 traffic -- supposed to be highway 50. here's a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. no problems this morning coming into san francisco. and now that we're right at 5:00, they should have just picked up the cones that had been blocking lanes on the incline portion of westbound 80. so you're good to go. here's a live look at the san mateo bridge. i mentioned that smallish fender-bender. they
